Araneae: Salticidae
Mopsus mormon
Known as the Northern Green Jumping Spider, this Spider caught me by surprise on three counts:
1) I did not see it until it moved such was its blending capacity with its background.
2) Its size, it was nearly two centimetres, too big for a jumping Spider I thought.
3) Just how far it could jump, as it easily jumped ten centimetres from leaf to leaf.
This is the largest Jumping Spider in Australia.
